UPDATE AS OF JANUARY 4, 2022
Congratulations to all the newly engaged couples from 2021! The Holidays are a popular time of year for proposals. There’s nothing like being surrounded by loved ones to make people realize what’s really important in life (relationships!), feel lucky in love to have their significant other, and to happily announce an engagement in front of friends and family.
I look forward to assisting you cross off one of the most important items on your wedding to-do list - getting your marriage license before the Big Day! Why waste your time dealing with the stress and hassle of trying to get an appointment with the Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk (LACRR), take time out of both your busy days to go there, go through traffic, look for parking, stand in line waiting to be called on, and be at the moody whim of the government official behind that window? Don’t you have more important things to worry about? It really doesn’t make sense to subject yourself to the torture when you know you have another option - Nancy the Notary can deliver your completed marriage license to you at your home, at your convenience, in 5 minutes or less, no stress involved!
When you use Nancy the Notary for your marriage license service needs, you are using the same notary that professional wedding planners and celebrities turn to. My favorite response at the end of an appointment when a couple has their license in hand is always, “Wow, that's it?! That was easy!”
By the way, did you know that California is the ONLY state that offers a Confidential Marriage License? No other state offers the opportunity to keep your marriage record private. If you're not sure what the difference is:
Public Marriage License:
- Can only be obtained through the County Recorder's office directly (notaries cannot issue Public Marriage Licenses in Los Angeles County).
- Requires 2 witnesses on the license.
- Is an OPEN record; anyone can request an Informational Copy of the marriage record.
Confidential Marriage License:
- Can be obtained through both an Authorized Notary and the LA County Recorder's Office.
- No witnesses required on the license.
- Is a CLOSED record; only parties to the marriage can obtain a copy of their marriage record, or from a Court order.
Please feel free to contact me directly to clarify any questions or concerns. Have a great New Year!
UPDATE AS OF AUGUST 31, 2021
LACRR still has no plans to open up anytime soon. Orange County is open, and you do not have to be a resident of OC to get your marriage license from them. For Los Angeles County Registrar and Ventura County Registrar, you must be a resident of the respective counties to obtain your marriage license from them. But why deal with the stress of taking the day out of your already busy schedules to do this?
UPDATE AS OF MAY 11, 2021
Can't get an appointment for your marriage license with The Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder? Are you sitting in front of your screen, constantly hitting the refresh button, desperately hoping an appointment will open up, frustrated beyond belief? I've heard all the horror stories, and LACRR still has no plans on opening up anytime soon. Why on earth would you want to go through this unnecessary stress? Contact Nancy the Notary to have your marriage license personally delivered to you and your partner in the comfort of your home. UPDATE AS OF NOVEMBER 29, 2020
If you are in need of a Confidential Marriage License, and/or are looking to get married as soon as possible, I have appointments with the Los Angeles County Registrar Recorder's office every other week through January 2021. Don't fret! We are like an underground secret that most people can't believe they hadn't heard about until this year.
Every Authorized Notary that offers Marriage Licenses in Los Angeles County has a different process, and I try to make mine as painless, efficient, and quick as possible. Please call (310) 775-0270 or email nancythenotary@gmail.com for more details. Turnaround time from when I receive your paperwork back to having the license in your hands is about a week, depending on your wedding date and where you live.
UPDATE AS OF SEPTEMBER 14, 2020
If you are in need of a Marriage License, you've found the right Notary! I have appointments with the Los Angeles County Registrar Recorder's office at least every other week through the end of the year, so I can definitely help you get your Confidential Marriage License. Please be advised that normal turn-around time to get the license in your hands is 1-2 weeks (if you need it sooner then we can work that out, but there is an additional fee to expedite/rush).
UPDATE AS OF JULY 23, 2020
The Los Angeles County Clerk's office has reduced their hours significantly, effective July 15, 2020. The next appointment I have with them to pick up Confidential Marriage Licenses is August 4th, 2020. If your ceremony will be after this date, please get in touch with me and I will be happy to assist you.
Also, to answer a Frequently Asked Question: if you filled out the Marriage License Application on LACRR's website, Authorized Notaries DO NOT have access to that information, and you will have to complete a new one.
UPDATE AS OF MAY 12, 2020
Yes, I am still providing Confidential Marriage Licenses! The Los Angeles County Clerk's office just opened up on May 8th to authorized Notaries to pick up licenses, via appointment only. Appointment time is two weeks out so please plan accordingly (licenses expire 90 days from date of issuance).
